The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed forward Brandon Yip to a two-year contract through the 2011-12 season. Yip was a restricted free-agent.

Yip came out of nowhere last season after spending a full four years at Boston University. Upon being called up to the Avs, he made an immediate physical impact - and then he started scoring.
A freakish 16.9 shooting percentage lead to 11 goals in 32 games for the rookie.
CapGeek.com is reporting that the two-year deal is worth 1.45 million - just a 725,000 dollar cap hit.
Well done, Mr. Sherman.
